Poem: Bloody Rainbow

 bold and bright
 colors looming into sight
 rush-hour rainbow arched above
sodden lines of drivers so pre-occupied

red, yellow, orange, blue
 God's incongruous cue
 to listen...

radio news cuts in...
 "the Iraqi girl screamed
'Daddy, Daddy the bombs are coming'
just before the schrapnel hit her."

 bold and bright
wake up and see the light
 keep shining on
 the stars and stripes

and listen...

"the Iraqi people will be liberated
 no matter what it takes..."

little girl don't cry
 Mr. Bush is telling why
 you had to die

so bold...
 so bright...
climb that rainbow to the sky
Sweet Jesus save me from the...

American Jihad
 Holy War to save the
 destitute and oil-laden

 so bright
 colors of the rainbow
but all we see is black and white

meet me on the other side...

I died in my daddy's arms tonight
 please tell me why

Note: Driving home in the rain I saw this incredible rainbow, huge and rich in color. I wrote this poem as I was driving, listening to a report of a terrorist attack in Iraq. As you can probably tell, I was very much against the war in Iraq. ~Grace
