Poem: City

streetlights

 sirens
 scream
 boots clack
 taillights bleed
 in arterial streets
 around skeletal skyscrapers
 between the forgotten shadows
the first gasp of new life cries
 the whisper of death replies
 expulsion and ingress
 she moves within
 never ceasing
 and I one
 with her
 breathe
